Overview
Social work & inclusion
Social work is one of the largest categories within the European Solidarity Corps. It rarely demands any specific expertise β it demands presence. Cooking breakfast at a shelter. Accompanying someone to the bank. Talking, listening, being there.
Projects exist all over Europe: from city-based shelters and supported housing in Berlin and Lisbon, to smaller local initiatives in rural areas. Many projects target specific groups β people experiencing homelessness, EU citizens in vulnerable situations, people with addiction issues, single parents, people leaving institutional care.
You usually get a concrete area of responsibility after an introductory period. The host organisation trains you on an ongoing basis, and you always work alongside experienced staff.
